Making Work Experience Work for Employers

Over the last 12 months, Cumbria Careers Hub has worked with employers of all sizes, from micro businesses to large organisations, to test and explore new approaches to work experience.

Join this practical and engaging workshop to discover how workplace experiences are evolving and how your business can benefit. Explore flexible ways to connect with young people through activities ranging from a few hours in the workplace to project-based challenges, workplace visits, and traditional placements.

You’ll learn how to:

  • Engage and inspire future talent
  • Offer meaningful experiences that work for your business
  • Build a talent pipeline for the future
  • Design flexible opportunities that are easy to deliver
  • Support social mobility and inclusion

This is a new era of workplace experiences: fairer, more inclusive, and more beneficial for both employers and young people. Rather than relying on a single placement model, employers can now offer a range of experiences, whether that’s a few hours, a day, a project, or a longer placement. Each interaction helps young people build confidence, develop skills, and gain a sense of belonging in the world of work.

Leave with practical ideas, real examples from local employers, and actions you can put into practice straight away.

Whether you’re a sole trader, SME, or large employer, this workshop will help you discover simple, impactful ways to support young people while meeting the needs of your organisation.
