About Us
Cumbria Careers Hub is working to ensure every young person receives outstanding, relevant careers education throughout their time at school and college.
As a Community of Practice, we bring together secondary schools, Special Schools and colleges with local employers and support them to deliver high quality, inspirational careers advice to students.
Cumbria Careers Hub is made up of 48 secondary schools and 4 colleges across the County, including 9 Special Educational Needs providers, Alternative Provision and Pupil Referral Units. Working together with our local Enterprise Adviser Network, Cornerstone Employers, universities, training providers, local businesses and career professionals, the Careers Hub supports the schools and colleges in achieving the Gatsby Benchmarks, a framework of eight guidelines that define the best careers provision in secondary schools and colleges.
Our skilled team work across Cumbria to:
- Link schools and colleges to Enterprise Advisers (exceptional volunteers from the world of business), employers and other careers providers
- Provide support and training for Careers Leaders in schools and colleges
- Support schools to implement the eight Gatsby Benchmarks, the national best practice standard for careers support
- Provide support and guidance to our Enterprise Adviser Network
Cumbria Careers Strategy Group
The Cumbria Careers Hub Strategy Group delivers the strategic oversight of the performance and development of the Careers Hub on behalf of the LEP’s People, Employment and Skills Strategy Group (PESSG). It provides advice and recommendations on the delivery of projects and interventions needed to realise the shared ambition of world class careers education in Cumbria.
It ensures that schools and colleges get the support their students, schools, and clusters need. It also works with employers to bridge the gap between the world of work and education, and encourage a continued focus on the importance of careers education within skills plans and strategies developed by the LEP and its partners.
The strategy group will champion world class careers education for all young people across Cumbria and highlight the opportunities that exist across the Cumbrian economy for rewarding careers.
Our skilled team of Enterprise Co-ordinators work across Cumbria to:
- Link schools and colleges to Enterprise Advisers (exceptional volunteers from the world of business), employers and other careers providers
- Provide support and training for Careers Leaders in schools and colleges
- Support schools to implement the eight Gatsby Benchmarks, the national best practice standard for careers support
- Provide support and guidance to our Enterprise Adviser Network
