Employer Engagement Project Lead

Lauren has worked in youth work and education in various capacities for over 20 years. After securing a degree in Youth and Community Development Studies at St Martin’s College, Lauren began a career delivering detached youth work and the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award for young people in Lancaster and Morecambe.
The next step was a move into Further Education, followed by a role in Secondary Education as a Pastoral Leader. After a decade working in Lancashire, Lauren relocated to Cumbria to support young people through the National Citizen Service programme. This role evolved into working closely with employers and Careers Leads to plan careers events for students across South Lakes and Furness.
Following the achievement of a Level 6 CIAG qualification, Lauren progressed into Higher Education, delivering careers advice and guidance to a new and previously unfamiliar age group.
All of this experience has led to Lauren’s current role at Cumbria Careers Hub as Employer Engagement Project Lead—a position where she feels she has truly found her passion.
Lauren says:
“I genuinely believe that making careers education real and relatable can spark something in young people that they didn’t know they had. Sometimes, even a small opportunity—such as visiting a workplace—can motivate students to consider their next steps and begin shaping their futures with confidence and purpose.”
