Educate to Employ – Shaping Cumbria’s Future Conference

We’re delighted you were able to join us for Enterprising Cumbria’s Educate to Employ conference. With the recent release of the revised Gatsby Benchmarks and the new statutory guidelines on Careers education, we hope that the event gave you a chance to consider:

  • How work-related learning can underpin school improvement models and raise attainment;
  • How the new requirements for work experience can raise the aspirations of the most vulnerable students in Cumbria;
  • How schools can work with employers to support the life chances of every student via place-based change approaches.

We are now taking the opportunity to share slides and handouts from the conference – if you click on the agenda item you will see a PDF has been attached to that line – this is a set of the slides used in that particular presentation or workshop.

We would be grateful if you could take 5 minutes to complete the feedback questionnaire, or by scanning the QR code below.

Following the conference, we thought it might be helpful to signpost you to a couple of websites if you would like more information about some of the topics that were covered on the day.

REVISED GATSBY BENCHMARKS

After nearly two years of extensive research and consultation, the Gatsby Benchmarks have been updated for 2024 and beyond.

The dedicated Gatsby Benchmarks website examines these updates and provides further updates on publication and beyond.

MODERN WORKPLACE EXPERIENCE

Modern work experience should guarantee every young person access to high-quality, multiple workplace experiences, totalling 10 days' worth throughout secondary education.

This equitable approach will facilitate a variety of experiences starting early, connecting education and young people with industry and unlocking the skills and opportunities of the future workforce.
