Tell us about your chosen career or career pathway to your current role

“I studied hotel and catering at college, followed by university.  I joined Westmorland nearly 20 years ago and have enjoyed an interesting career path in an innovative business.  My roles have included duty management, sales, marketing and communications and have given me a wide knowledge of the business My experience has enabled me to strengthen my Community Manager role, to engage colleagues and support the many vibrant communities around our businesses.”

What careers advice would you give to your 16-year-old self?

“Work hard to keep as may options open to you as possible. Try to learn and recognise areas you love and dislike. By understanding what sparks your interests and what doesn’t, you can look to progress a career path that highlights your true talents.”

What do you like/love best about living and working in Cumbria?

“I love living in an active rural community, in one of the most beautiful parts of the country. With great accessibility to the Lake District and all its tranquillity and adventures, and only an hour and half away from city life.  We’re surrounded by lots of innovative companies, both family run and national, paving the way with exciting projects and opportunities for the future.”
