Enterprise Advisers

Godfrey Owen

Why did you become an Enterprise Adviser?

“Having worked with many young people who have found it challenging to find a place in the workplace, I am passionate about giving young people the inspiration and knowledge to make their transition from school to work as positive as possible.”

Tell us about your chosen career or career pathway to your current role

“I fell into a career of working with people to be the best they can be. Whether that is young people or middle aged managers, I have always worked closely with training, leadership and organisation development. Leading an organisation that has a mission to inspire people to make a contribution to their community is a great privilege.”

What careers advice would you give to your 16-year-old self?

“Think about the things you enjoy, and try as many roles as you need before finding somewhere you feel comfortable and fulfilled. Listen to advice of others, but use their advice wisely.”

What do you like/love best about living and working in Cumbria?

“It is a privilege to live and work in a stunning place, with people who care about their communities.”
