Enterprise Advisers

Lyndsey Fitheridge

Why did you become an Enterprise Adviser?

“I became an Advisor as I am passionate about helping young people understand, discover, and explore different career routes available on their doorstep. I want to give back to my local community and share my experience, knowledge, and contacts to enrich the careers advice and guidance available to young people.”

Tell us about your chosen career or career pathway to your current role

“I completed my A Levels at QEGS in Penrith and went on to study HR at UCLAN in Preston. I gained my CIPD and began a career in HR which quickly moved into the world of recruitment and then training. I have recruited for a wide range of vacancies including finance, office support, IT Marketing and Education.

“I moved into management roles early in my career and have now been a Director for System People for the last 4 years. I now oversee the acquisition of apprenticeship opportunities and apprentices looking for work in addition to running our supply teaching business.”

What careers advice would you give to your 16-year-old self?

“Don’t be afraid to feel out of your comfort zone. Keep pushing and trying new things. Go the extra mile and it will be noticed.”

What do you like/love best about living and working in Cumbria?

“I love living in our beautiful county and after 7 years studying and working out of the area it was great to return in 2012 once I started my family. There are so many amazing SME’s here with brilliant opportunities for people willing to commit and put in the hard work.”
