Brett Dayton
Why did you become an Enterprise Adviser?
“I am passionate about supporting young people, all young people, to realise their potential, and appreciate the extensive range of life and work opportunities available on their doorstep.”
Tell us about your chosen career or career pathway to your current role
“Since graduating from university I have enjoyed a wide-ranging career that has pivoted around a central commitment to improving inclusion and diversity. Whether supporting homeless communities in Southampton and Winchester, delivering teaching and managing quality assurance in Further Education, or, as I do today, working in Economic Development, my career has been about building futures for the often disenfranchised, disengaged, and marginalised people in our communities.”
What careers advice would you give to your 16-year-old self?
“It’s ok to be scared when things start to happen, but be brave when they do.”
What do you like/love best about living and working in Cumbria?
“Where else delivers some of the most beautiful MTB trails in the UK, alongside some of the best artisanal food and drink producers?.”
