Why did you become an Enterprise Adviser?

“Through my work at Inspira I have spent a lot of time building relationships with the schools in Carlisle, in

particular I have supported The Gillford Centre to bring in employers and to host a variety of impactful careers events. With their students frequently feeling less than positive about themselves and their life chances, it is vital for them to have increased opportunities to engage with a range of training providers and employers to raise their aspirations and get them working toward an end goal.

The EA role allows me to support The Gillford Centre on a more strategic level whilst using the employer contacts and relationships developed to ensure that the students continue to benefit from meaningful employer encounters.”

Tell us about your chosen career or career pathway to your current role

“I am a highly skilled and motivated marketing and communications professional with over twenty years’ experience backed up with a Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing and a Level 5 Professional Diploma in Digital Marketing. My work experience has been gained by employment with major national PLC’s, government sector and charitable trusts in the North of England.

My current role is with Inspira as Marketing and Communications Lead where I am responsible for the delivery and progressions of the organisation’s brand and marketing communications activities across all internal and external communications channels.”

What careers advice would you give to your 16-year-old self?

“Take every opportunity to learn, that you are offered, never be afraid to try new things and always have a plan B.”

What do you like/love best about living and working in Cumbria?

“Cumbria is a great place to live and work. With stunning scenery and great places to visit on my doorstep I can’t think of a nicer place to live.”
