Statutory guidance requires the Senior Leadership Team, Headteacher and the Governing Body to give “explicit backing” to the Careers Leader to ensure there is strong strategic leadership to develop a progressive and impactful careers programme. The Careers Leader will lead the careers programme underpinned by the Gatsby Benchmarks.

Careers Leader
Every school or college should appoint a named person to the role of Careers Leader to lead the careers programme and the strategic careers plan.
Careers Link Governor
It is recommended that every school should appoint a link governor for careers. This is a strategic role to promote employer engagement and take an active interest in Careers Information Advice and Guidance (CIAG).
Business Education Partner
A Business Education Partner (BEP) is a valuable extension of your careers programme, bringing professional expertise, business insight, employer networks and fresh perspectives that can help strengthen careers education and enhance opportunities for young people.
