Shaping Tomorrow’s Workforce Conference Brings Together Over 160 Delegates from Across Cumbria
On October the 14th, Cumbria Careers Hub welcomed over 160 delegates from schools, colleges, businesses and partner organisations to the Shaping Tomorrow’s Workforce Conference, creating a valuable opportunity to explore how we can work together to prepare young people for the opportunities and challenges of the future workforce.
The conference brought together education and industry leaders with a shared commitment to improving outcomes for young people through meaningful employer engagement, skills development and high-quality careers education. Throughout the day, delegates took part in thought-provoking discussions, practical workshops and networking opportunities, sharing ideas and examples of effective practice from across the county.
A particular highlight was the contribution of our speakers and workshop facilitators, who generously shared their expertise, experiences and insights. Their sessions encouraged delegates to think differently, challenge existing approaches and consider new ways of supporting young people to develop the knowledge, skills and experiences needed for future success.
The event also demonstrated the strength of partnership working across Cumbria. The willingness of schools, colleges, employers and partner organisations to invest their time and expertise reflects a collective determination to ensure young people are equipped to navigate an evolving labour market and access the opportunities available to them.
Feedback from delegates has been overwhelmingly positive. One employer commented:
“This is my first time attending and it exceeded my expectations. I made some fantastic connections and I can already see the actions I can take to support the young people in Cumbria.”
The impact of the event was also reflected in the evaluation results, with 91% of respondents reporting that they are highly likely to make attendance at next year’s conference a priority, demonstrating the value delegates place on the insights, connections and collaborative opportunities the event provides.
Cumbria Careers Hub would like to thank everyone who attended and contributed to the success of the conference.
The conversations and connections made throughout the day have created strong foundations for future collaboration. The focus now turns to building on that momentum and translating ideas into action, continuing to strengthen the relationship between education and employers to help shape tomorrow’s workforce.
Thank you to everyone who played a part in making the conference such a success. We look forward to continuing this important work together throughout the year and welcoming delegates back in 2027.
